Event Booking Calendar
Club nights
We meet on Wednesday evenings. Newcomers are welcome to join in for a session before deciding whether to join the club.
A duty officer is present at the start and the end of the session, to help new members, and to ensure everyone returns safely.
Club events are organised on some Wednesday evenings - eg barbeques, rescue practice sessions, and races. See programme for details.
Anyone taking part in a club night on the lake should read the lake night guidelines.
The first Wednesday of the month (or first two early in the season) we particularly welcome new paddlers and starters, and have a number of club members on hand to get you inducted.
Volunteers to be duty officer are always welcome. Please read the duty officer guidelines in the Safety Policy, and let the club secretary know if you can volunteer for an evening. Duty officers don't need to be experienced paddlers.
Please respond in the events calendar if you intend to come to the pool. It is £7 per person per session. (BACs please - Sort Code: 60-07-34; A/C#: 10775153 West Cumbria Canoe Club - add name, membership number and session date as payment reference). The attendance is limited to 4 boats, so please don't book on unless you are sure you're coming, and just book in your child if you are just attending with your child, but not paddling yourself.
Some more formal coaching sessions are arranged on some Wednesday evenings - see programme for details. We also run a number of social sessions after the pool session, with talks and workshops.
Pool sessions are a great opportunity to learn to roll, or to practice rolling techniques, as well as trying out playboating moves or just gaining confidence in the water.
We have four adult sized, and 2 youth sized boats stored at the pool. We will have spray decks and paddles available, but you can bring your own if you prefer.
Please ensure any kit has been thoroughly washed down before bringing to the pool. Unfortunately you can't use your own boat as we need to keep the pool super clean.
